HistoryIn 1911, Forssman reported that rabbits injected with suspensions of kidney from guinea pig, horse, or cat, but not from cattle or rat produce antibody capable of hemolysing sheep red cells in the presence of complement (Forssman J. Biochem.Ztshr.(1911)). Since then there have been numerouse investigation on this antigenic substance; an extensive review has been published by Buchbinder (Buchbinder L. Arch Path. (1935))
